Within the borders of the poorest nations are people who live every day with the threat of death from acute hunger and numerous diseases hanging over their shoulders. They live in atrocious conditions that are beyond most imaginations. Their economies for the most part rely on agriculture in a world that has fast become industrialized. Poverty in these countries affects the majority of citizens, for most, suffering is all they know. As a result, only loving acts of kindness will bring hope to the forgotten inhabitants of the world. On this note, Assist International, founded by Austin J. de Bourg embarked on projects to assist in the alleviation of poverty in the impoverished areas.

Assist International acquired 75 acres of land in Nsanje, Malawi for food production to assist in feeding hungry orphans. The 75-acre agricultural project was launched on October 14th 2006. It not only provides the much needed food to the hungry, but also jobs for many young men and widowed women.

Assist International's visit to Haiti in 2005 revealed that there is a desperate need to literature in their native tongue. As a result the literacy level in Haiti is only 52.9%, which translates into more than 3.5 million people. We are setting up a Christian library in Port-au-Prince that will aid in providing needed education. Consider assisting us in this project.

Assist International visited Nalgonda District in Andhra Pradesh, India in October 2006. Many lives were touched and hope, a priceless but extremely valuable gift, was given to thousands. Assist International surveyed the needs of the people and immediately started discussions to develop a strategy to assist them. Plans are already on the way to build a church in one of the poorest areas in Nalgonda District. Other plans are still being discussed. Details of this and other projects would be available soon.

Teach a man to fish;

and you have fed him for a lifetime.”
